WHAT IS KAMBO

Kambo is the secretion from the Giant Green Monkey Tree Frog, used as a traditional Amazonian medicine for thousands of years amongst the tribes of the Upper Amazon. It is a non-hallucinogenic purgative that offers a powerful physical detox and spiritual cleanse. In my experience, it is the medicine of purification and attunement.

PURIFICATION

Kambo can be considered 'peptide therapy', it consists of a unique cocktail of medicinal compounds that help the body to rapidly release deeply seated toxins, cleanse the liver and gallbladder, and boost the immune system by killing harmful pathogens in the body such as bacteria, yeast, fungi, protozoa, viruses, and fungus like candida.

It is said to clear "panema", dark or negative energy (or suppressed unprocessed emotions), that are considered to be at the root of disease. When panema is cleared life becomes easier, obstacles become obsolete, and one can live harmoniously within the flow of life. In Amazonian traditions, it is used as a "vaccine" to help treat infections, fever, snake bites, and malaria.

This secretion has been used amongst the women to aid in fertility and amongst the hunters to improve stamina, strength, courage, and clarity.

ATTUNEMENT

Once the body is clear of the thick muck of physical toxins and dense energy called "panema", we can better hear the true voice of our hearts and attune to our Higher Self. Often the after-effects of Kambo are feelings of calm, peace, and mental clarity. Feeling more grounded with a heart full of gratitude, love, and compassion.

Kambo is said to attune us to the rhythm of the universe, removing obstacles in our path and bringing us good luck and synchronicity.

THE PROCESS

We begin with a sharing circle and intention. I invite you to share what you are ready to release, and what you call into your life.

I make the gates (small burns on the skin).

Participants receive Kambo 2 or 3 at a time. Those about to receive the medicine will drink 1.5 litres of water first.

The 'purge' portion of the ceremony typically lasts anywhere between 15-30 minutes.

After everyone is complete I offer a sound bath using crystal bowls and a gong to give you plenty of time to rest.

After resting for 30-45 minutes, I offer optional Sananga.

We finish with tea and a light snack while we have a sharing circle.

Traditionally Kambo is done in 3 consecutive sessions. Some people choose to do them back-to-back while others choose to do their 3 sessions in a 28-day period (a moon cycle). This allows the Kambo to work accumulatively, going deeper within the body (physically and emotionally) for profound shifts to take place.

MORE ABOUT KAMBO

In recent years Kambo has made its way over to the West and is quickly gaining popularity for its wide range of benefits.

Many people who suffer from chronic conditions, that haven't been remedied by the allopathic approach such as Lyme Disease, MS, or eczema, find relief or recovery with the help of Kambo.

Scientists have attributed Kambo's positive effects to its unique cocktail of peptides that hold potent antimicrobial, antiviral, antifungal, antibacterial, and analgesic properties. Italian scientist, Vittorio Erspamer called this secretion a "fantastic chemical cocktail with potential medical applications, unequalled by any other amphibian."

Erspamer was the first person to analyze Kambo in a laboratory, and since then he went on to be nominated (twice) for a Nobel Prize.  Several peptides have been isolated from the secretion and many have been synthesized. A few key peptides identified in Kambo:​ ​

• Adenoregulin: Interacts with the adenosine receptor, a fundamental component in the human cell fuel, and has shown to be very effective in killing cancer cells by shutting off their fuel source.
• Dermorphin: Effects pulmonary ventilation and pituitary hormone release. It has a potent opiate-like activity on the mu-type opioid receptors, which has an analgesic effect. Its pain relief properties are 30-40x stronger than morphine
• Dermaseptin: Contains very potent antimicrobial activity against bacteria, yeast, fungi, protozoa, and enveloped viruses (such as AIDs and tuberculosis), as well as opportunistic bacteria, and filamentous fungi that are responsible for severe opportunistic infections accompanying AIDS and the use of immunosuppressive agents.
• Phyllokinin: Produces hypotension, a long-lasting reduction in blood pressure.
• Tryptophyllins: Biological activity is highly potent against the yeast Candida Albicans.

This brings researchers to believe that Kambo can open up a new world of treatments for some of today's leading chronic conditions such as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Chronic Pain, Cancer, HIV, Parkinson’s Disease, Alzheimer’s, Depression, Lyme's Disease, Hepatitis, Diabetes, Rheumatism, Arthritis, and Addictions.
